Ever since Brexit I have noticed this terminology. I find it interesting. America isn't great. Shitting on everyone else isn't going to lift us up. United We Stand, Divided We Fall, and right now we are dangerously divided. So if you believe America is the greatest country on earth, how do you go about expressing that belief? Do you do it by inspiring others to want to be a part of this great country? Or do you do it by excluding others in attempt to protect that illusion of freedom so many desperately cling to? Do you build others up or knock them down? When you have to be the best, but you're really not, it can really fuck with your head. Excerpts from: In the US, Why is Nationalism Equated with Racism? Summary: nationalism == "my country is better than others", racism == "my race is better than others" so of course they will overlap. But you can be a nationalist and not be a racist.
